How To Make Crispy Fried Onion Chicken and Stuffing Bake
Step one—Sauté onion in butter for three minutes, sprinkle with flour and cook another minute, stirring constantly, until flour is fully incorporated. Whisk milk into pan and stir until mixture has thickened. Season with salt and pepper, remove from heat, and set aside.
Step two—Toss chicken with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, garlic salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper; place in a 13×9 baking dish.
Step three—Stir sour cream and 1/2 of the fried onions into the onion gravy. Spread on top of chicken.
Step four—Sprinkle dry stuffing mix on top of onion gravy and pour water over stuffing mix, making sure it’s all moistened.
Step five—Sprinkle remaining fried onions on top of casserole, cover with foil, and bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes.
Step six— Uncover dish and bake for another 15 to 20 minutes or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
